As one of Istanbul’s most established convention centers, we are committed to developing an operating model that reduces our environmental footprint, supports local values and uses resources more efficiently. We have completed all preparations for certification in line with the GSTC – Global Sustainable Tourism Council Criteria. Alongside our environmental initiatives, supporting local employment, improving accessibility, promoting women’s rights and equal opportunities, protecting children’s rights and preserving cultural heritage are key components of our sustainability approach. Guided by our vision of ‘Transformation for the Future, Sustainability for Events’, we will continue to lead our industry.”

According to the report, ICEC achieved significant progress in energy, water and waste management during 2025. Despite an increase in visitor numbers, the venue successfully reduced resource consumption. Electricity usage decreased compared to the previous year, while substantial water savings were also achieved. Investments in LED conversion and operational efficiency improvements played a major role in these results.

ICEC also reported notable achievements in carbon management. Despite increased participation levels, carbon intensity per participant improved by 62% compared to the previous year. This result reflects the tangible impact of energy efficiency measures, resource management practices and sustainable operational initiatives.

Sustainability Approach Built on Four Core Pillars

The full 2025 Sustainability Report, available on the organization’s website, is built around four key pillars that form the foundation of ICEC’s sustainability strategy:

Sustainable Management: Establishing transparent and measurable processes for managing environmental and social risks.

Socio-Economic Benefits: Supporting local employment and prioritizing local suppliers within the supply chain.

Preservation of Cultural Heritage: Promoting Istanbul’s historical and cultural values to international visitors in an authentic and responsible manner.

Reducing Environmental Impact: Expanding initiatives focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management and carbon footprint reduction.

Aiming to Lead Industry Transformation

ICEC extends its sustainability efforts beyond internal operations by encouraging event organizers, participants, suppliers and all stakeholders to become part of this transformation.

Through its 2025 Sustainability Report, ICEC reaffirms its commitment to environmental responsibility, social benefit and economic sustainability while aiming to lead the transformation of Türkiye’s MICE industry toward a more sustainable future.

Click here to download the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center 2025 Sustainability Report.

Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center (ICEC), one of Türkiye’s most established brands in the meetings, congresses and events industry, has publicly released its […]

[51

post-1486","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sustainability
["GET
